FAQ

What is the square footage and size of a typical Boston Pizza restaurant?

Square footage is typically 5,300–6,000 with 160-200 seats inside the restaurant and 50-75 seats on the patio.

Is the franchise fee refundable?

Yes. The deposit is fully refundable until a project has been identified, approved, all required due diligence has been completed and a Lease and/or Franchise Agreement have been executed.

What is the royalty structure?

Royalties are 7% paid on gross food sales. An additional 2.5 on gross food paid to our national co-op advertising fund by all franchisees. This is instrumental, as we continue to build a growing national media buy and marketing calendar.

Does Boston Pizza International Inc. help with financing?

Following the approval process our franchising department will consult with you and one of our preferred lending institutions. After the lending requirements are met, we will guide you through the application process.

What rates can I expect to get from the lenders? What collateral is needed?

Our franchising department will work with you throughout the negotiation process to finalize these terms.

How is the real estate deal structured?

Typically by land lease, although some franchisees have purchased the land based on availability. Standard building leases are also an option.

What type of locations do you offer?

Our stable growth, well-established brand and regional drawing power make Boston Pizza a preferred tenant. Ideal locations would be high profile, “front and centre”, and near “traffic generators”. We compliment regional malls, power centres, lifestyle centres and office and entertainment centres such as theatres and big box retailers. Boston Pizza is now looking at non-traditional opportunities as well in locations such as malls, downtown locations and developments in metropolitan areas across the country.

How long is the wait for approval?

Approval takes 2-4 weeks.

How long does it take to build a restaurant after approval?

Typically the process runs about 7-9 months in total, from architectural drawings to opening day.
