Boston Pizza Midland Unveils Brand New Look

Local Franchisee Andy Staffen and team are ready to serve the Midland community at completely renovated restaurant

October 28, 2010, Midland, ON. – With the paint dry, new furniture and a state-of-the-art in-house television and entertainment system tuned and ready to go, Boston Pizza Midland will officially re-open its doors on Thursday, October 28.  The restaurant, located at 16835 Heritage Drive, now accommodates additional seating in both the dining room and sports bar thanks to a complete interior and exterior renovation.

“The renovation is not only about re-energizing the store and our staff, but the Midland community as well,” says Staffen. “We hope our excitement is shared by our guests and the many friends we’ve made in the Midland community over the years.”

Boston Pizza’s renovation process is unique in the restaurant business in that it requires all franchisees to undertake a major renovation every seven years. The Midland location originally opened its doors in September, 2003.

The new restaurant boasts many kitchen updates including the addition of a paperless ordering system designed to ensure greater accuracy and a more efficient preparation process.  The dining room has also been refreshed with new carpeting, tiles and tables, as well as cultured-stone walls in the hostess area and redesigned bar.

The sports bar has also been given a complete enhancement with multiple new high definition flat screen televisions and increased seating designed to create a comfortable and exciting atmosphere for watching major sporting events, as well as create an ideal environment for local amateur sports teams.

“We’re excited about the newly renovated restaurant and the opportunity to provide our guests with a more exciting dining experience,” explains franchisee Andy Staffen. “The updated and modern touches truly make it feel like a brand new store.”

Boston Pizza Midland’s commitment to the community goes well beyond the bricks and mortar of the store.  Since 2005, the Midland store’s charity golf tournament has raised $93,800 for Wendat Community Programs, which provides transportation for people with mental disabilities, including $20,000 at this year’s event.

In 2009, the restaurant also donated $5,000 to local schools as part of their Operation Education earn-back program where five per cent of all restaurant sales generated from students, parents or teachers of participating Midland schools was donated back to the schools to fund new resources.  Since the store began its Operation Education program in 2006, Boston Pizza Midland has donated more than $18,000 to local schools.

As a result of the franchise’s operational excellence and commitment to the local community, Boston Pizza Midland was awarded Boston Pizza International’s highest honour, Franchisee of the Year, in 2009 and recognized as a Franchisee of Excellence in 2010.
