Boston Pizza’s New Wings Take Flight With 14 Inspired Sauces from Around the World


Mississauga, April 4, 2011 – Just in time for the playoffs, Boston Pizza International today began serving bigger, better and tastier chicken wings to hungry sports fans across the nation. The plump, one-of-a-kind wings, available exclusively at Boston Pizza, come in both flatties (the wingette) and drummies (the bulbous meaty end) and are available oven roasted, breaded or fried with 14 original sauces and rubs. 

“We took our time developing the perfect sports bar chicken wing, and we believe we’ve achieved success,” says Boston Pizza corporate chef Matt Hoag. “I’m confident that Boston Pizza’s new wing selection will please any pallet from hot and spicy to sweet and tangy.” 

Almost a year in development, the cooking techniques, sauces and rub flavours for Boston Pizza’s new wings are based on extensive feedback from guests and rigorous kitchen testing that ensures a delicate, yet robust flavour every time. The actual wings are supplied exclusively to Boston Pizza by Sunwest Poultry and are described as the biggest and meatiest anywhere in Canada. 

The 14 sauces offer guests a variety of flavours that span the traditional chicken wing sauces and rubs (mild, medium, hot, BBQ), but also a variety of flavours inspired by different cultures and cuisines from around the world, including:

Boston Pizza’s new wings are now available at all 340 Boston Pizza locations across Canada. To celebrate, Boston Pizza is launching a new fully-integrated marketing campaign with TV, radio, online and in-store creative as well as an interactive Facebook campaign where guests can win a ‘wing night’ with friends.
